Mouth ulcers are small white colored painful ulcers can be found in the mouth. Usually it attacks over lips, tongue, gums or at inside the cheeks area. You will get a burning or tingling sensation on the area which is soon going to affect by mouth ulcers.
It can occur even single or you are attacked by multiple ulcers in mouth. The colors of ulcers are white or yellow that is surrounded by red colored ring at the outside area. They can be automatically healed within 7-10 days but they create very painful situation as you feel unable to eat or drink anything when having ulcers.
There are 3 types of ulcers.
1. Minor Ulcers
2. large ulcers
3. Herpetiform Ulcers, in this condition the patients have about 100 or more ulcers in the mouth area and even he/she feels difficult to open the mouth.
Causes of mouth ulcers
There is a few reasons that can give way to the problem of ulcers. These are stress, nutritional deficiencies, poor dental care or hygiene, iron, or vitamin C or B12 deficiencies, herpes simplex infections, hormonal imbalance, cheek biting habit, skin diseases or bowel issues.
Some of the other reasons that can cause mouth ulcers are smoking habit, ill filled denture or sharp tooth, menstrual issues, some allergic toothpaste, alcohol intake, eating spicy food, having any disease TB or AIDS and due to any bacteria or virus.
Symptoms of mouth ulcers
The problem can be diagnosed very easily as the condition is very painful but here we will tell you some of the symptoms so that you can recognize it very easily.
These are increased salvation, mild fever due to infection, bad odor in mouth area, small erosions in the lining or mouth or tongue area, If have food or water gives you painful burning sensation, bleeding from the area having ulcers and base becomes grey or white in color.
Prevention of Mouth Ulcers
First and the main thing is that you have to maintain hygiene of mouth and for the purpose you have to brush your teeth two times a day with herbal toothpaste. Use a soft Barisal toothbrush to clean the mouth. Don’t brush too vigorously and for too long. Tongue should also be cleaned along with the teeth daily. Also, use mouthwash after brushing your teeth well.
Whenever find the problem of sharp teeth, immediately reach the dentist and tell him to treat. Mental pressure or stress can also cause mouth ulcers, so that you need to keep yourself cool and calm. You can even do meditation for that. Don’t eat too hot and too spicy food. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. Have a healthy diet having green vegetables and cereals. Also, eat seasonal fruits. Have supplements of Vitamin B and folic acid as deficiency of this can result in mouth ulcers.
In case, ulcers started bleeding then you have to visit your doctor. Use a cool mouthwash on daily basis it will help to provide relief to pain for some time.
